Day One

 Day one

4:45 am Ray and J say goodbye to Cleaopatra and Belvedere Creek and say hey to Priscilla. We motor on down to Dover for a 6am ferry driving straight onto the Norfolk lines ship to Dunkirk. We crashed down on some banquets and grabbed some much needed shut eye as the last minute preparations had been going on all week in the the early hours.

8:45am European time and the ferry docks and we head for our first destination Sainbury's wine! We stock up with a Crate of Hoegarden and 4 half cases of Sauvignon Blanc (plus a couple of reds for the road!)

Priscilla runs like a dream through the autoroute after her recent servicing.

We arrive south of Paris and Versailles at a our first destination Rambouillet in a forest encampment managed by Hutopia. Its an environmentally neutral campground the aim being to leave no footprint in the forest. We enter the green warriors world with a very warm welcome and my first French test, the receptionist forcing me to reply in French, my first words of French in a while. The site is beautiful, a natural swimming pool that uses no chemicals (reed beds and plants filter the water) and everything is calming and tranquil we crack open a bottle of wine order pizza from a wood fired oven and take much needed rest, spending our first night in Priscilla the Queen of Europe.
